The world was silent the day my father died. It was not shock, nor even respect that kept us quiet, but fear. Fear of the Coronavirus and the deadly COVID-19. Four and a half billion people (more than half the human population of the world) were in lockdown, including my father. There were no aeroplanes ripping through the blue, blue skies, bird song was audible once more due to the lack of traffic noise and the stars were shining brighter than they had for decades
Francis (Frank) Pollock McArthur was the first born of Hugh Wylie McArthur and Catherine Oliver Pollock. He was born in the town of Crieff, Perthshire on 31st January 1924. Frank was followed 16 months later by his brother, Hugh and finally his sister Catherine (Rena) arrived in 1927.
