KOHL RABI, RADISH AND TURNIP
These delicious vegetables can all stand in the garden in early winter and you simply harvest and use as needed. There comes a point in January, however, when you should lift and use any that are left. All will turn woody and tough if left in the ground too long - they don’t do well with hard frosts and they may develop hollow centres. They will keep for a week or two in a cold shed if you want to push on the season. Winter-grown plants may be smaller and a little scruffier looking than their summer relations, but they do help to ring the changes from a menu of green vegetables.
