Jimmy, northern white-cheeked gibbon, ZSL London Zoo. One unique aspect of a gibbon’s anatomy is the wrist, which functions something like a ball and socket joint. Combined with long arms, this allows for incredible rotation and enables acrobatic swinging of speeds up to 55kph (34mph) and spanning chasms of up to 15m (50ft).
