NEW MUSEUM
THE TINY MAYFAIR FLAT where Jimi Hendrix sheltered from the extremes of rock stardom in the late ’60s has been restored, with an exhibition on his brief life and enduring influence alongside. His girlfriend Kathy Etchingham advised curators on the correct fittings, from the carpets Hendrix chose in nearby John Lewis to the Bang & Olufsen record player on which he liked to listen to Handel’s Messiah – 200 years earlier, the composer lived next door (£7.50; handelhendrix.org).
