Despite Apple’s much-lauded security practices, a researcher was apparently able to swindle the company.
Apple prides itself on its security, but it looks like the company has suffered a damaging incident close to home. Asecurity researcher who reported bugs to Apple – and was publicly thanked by the company for his efforts – has been arrested for using an internal Apple tool to steal millions of dollars.
The researcher, named Noah Roskin-Frazee, has been accused alongside acoconspirator of scamming Apple out of over $3 million over the course of nearly 25 suspicious orders. That apparently included around $2.5 million in gift cards and over $100,000 in products and services.
