Apple’s macOS Big Sur is an enormous overhaul of the Mac operating system, with an entirely new look and feel compared to older versions.
Not every change has been welcome, though. Apple’s new design includes an awful lot of transparent, low-contrast elements that, while pretty, make using the system harder for anyone with eyesight trouble. Throw in small text and plenty of moving elements that can cause motion sickness and you have a potential accessibility nightmare. If you find Big Sur means big problems for accessibility, there is help at hand… Apple has a range of features that can alleviate the most troubling problems in its operating system, thanks to an extensive list of accessibility tools (like VoiceOver) housed in System Preferences.
