The menu bar at the top of the Mac screen has been a fixture of the macOS for decades.
The handy bar provides a convenient set of tools in the top-right corner of the screen, allowing you to quickly access and control key features on your Mac, such as Wi-Fi settings, Bluetooth and sound.
But, over the years, that little corner of the menu bar has become rather cluttered, so Big Sur’s introduction of the new Control Centre – borrowed, of course, from the iPhone and iPad – represents one of the biggest changes to the Mac’s interface in years. By default, there’s a fixed set of nine specific features that will always be visible in Control Centre. This means that you can now tidy up the menu bar by removing those particular features from there, and keep them inside the Control Centre instead. It’s worth noting that those nine features can’t be removed, but you can add more features to Control Centre – such as Fast User Switching, Battery and Accessibility controls – making it much quicker and easier to get your Mac set up the way you like it.
