Rumours have been swirling for a while that Apple is planning to launch a 15-inch MacBook Air, but recent weeks have seen not one but two disappointing developments on this front. If true, they could point towards a laptop less powerful than some people had hoped.
Firstly, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that he expects the 15-inch MacBook Air to come with an M2 chip in two different configurations. Kuo originally suggested the 15-inch MacBook Air could get a beefier M2 Pro chip. Kuo also believes that Apple’s M3 chip will enter mass production in the second half of 2023, so the 15-inch MacBook Air will almost certainly miss out. The M3 is expected to be made on a 3-nanometre process (as opposed to the M2’s 5nm), which could result in a more performant and efficient chip.
