Sync photos in iCloud
Q I use iCloud Photos on both my iMac and iPhone, but photos don’t transfer promptly, and the iMac reports many more than does my iPhone. How can I get them to sync better?

A Synchronising Photos libraries is complicated as it involves transfer of files and updating databases, but there’s a simple test you can use with iCloud Drive. Find a test file that isn’t an image, but could be a text document or similar on your Mac. Copy that to one of your folders in iCloud Drive by Opt-dragging it, to retain the original file in place.
