FROM SOMETHING SO IMPORTANT something so ridiculous. I do feel bad about it, but what I will say is I support Christian and that piece wholeheartedly, although you probably guessed that from my Editor’s Intro anyway.
For this month’s Geek Tested I’ve got in one of these fancy-schmancy gaming chairs from Corsair: The T2 Road Warrior (honestly, who thinks up these names?).
Now I consider myself a bit of an expert on PC chairs. Thanks to my turbulent upbringing I’ve sat on every kind of chair you could possibly imagine during my time with PCs. When I was very young I had a comfortable padded chair. When my parents first split up and mom moved out, we didn’t have a lot of cash, so I ended up with a folding steel chair like this: https://bit.ly/MPCchair.

Fast-forward two years, and mom emigrated to New Zealand and I was back living with my old pops, sat on the world’s most uncomfortable wooden desk chair, no padding, just wood—long gaming sessions would usually be accompanied by one or two pillows off of the bed. At university things changed again; my first dorm room (thankfully not shared) had a standard office chair, I’m guessing from the 1990s, which I couldn’t do anything with. I moved out in my second year, and working as a barista in Starbucks I had a bit more change and bought myself a sophisticated executive- style office chair. It had minimal padding, and over long periods was also uncomfortable. In my final year I bought a cheap, nasty gaming chair from Amazon. It worked well, and got me all the way through that final year, through my job-hunting days, and into Maximum PC. Yeah, it might be a bit sad I can remember all those chairs.
