Solidigm P44 Pro
A great value, high performance drive from an SSD underdog
The Solidigm P44 Pro is both a performance beast and great value for money—a killer combination.
WE REVIEWED THE SK Hynix Platinum P41 in our October 2022 issue, calling it “one heck of an SSD”, scoring it a 9 and officially welcoming manufacturer SK Hynix to the big leagues. We now have the Solidigm P44 Pro, which is built on the same Platinum P41 components, but adds new software and cuts the price to even more competitive levels. Has Solidigm stood on the shoulders of giants and achieved perfection?
The drive sits on the cutting edge of SSD technology, although that target is set to move shortly with the release of the first PCIe 5.0 drives. In the here and now, though, the Solidigm P44 Pro still packs a punch with its PCIe 4.0 specification, a quoted 7,000MBps sequential read and 6,500MBps sequential write speed, and for this 2TB version, a 1,200 Terabytes Written lifespan. Other capacities (512GB and 1TB) have a lower lifespan, but there’s a five-year warranty across all three models, which is better than bigname manufacturers such as Samsung.
