Kansas City tech-death shredders attempt to raise a stink
“With this new album, we tried to include plenty of different flavours, enough to satisfy any palate.” So said tech-death crew Ahtme when they announced Mephitic. In truth, their second album has just one flavour, and it’s as familiar to genre loyalists as the flavour of kebabs is to drunk people at 2am. Mephitic is a barrage that, although boasting two good songs, has almost nothing to add to past glories from Psycroptic or Gorguts. And what liberties it does take are just ridiculous. The face on the artwork looks like a flayed, grumpy grandpa, while the lyrics are all themed around “noxious gases”. So we have fart metal now. Thanks, Ahtme.
