Darkroom App Tutorial: How To Create Visually Stunning Images

Darkroom is an app by Bergen Co., a company that, like many others in the App Store, offers the ability to edit photos using different tools and filters.

Founded in 2014, Darkroom is driven by a small and dedicated team who have created an app that, thanks to its uncomplicated layout and design, is simple to use. This is aided by its integration with third-party camera apps like Halide and ReeXpose.

Darkroom is an iOS-only app (sorry Android users) and also provides a Mac version for desktop editing. This is a feature that not many other photo editing apps offer. It’s one reason that makes Darkroom stand out from the crowd. Because of this, it feels like Darkroom helps to straddle the gap between other simple photo editing apps like Snapseed and more prograde software like Lightroom, thus making it more accessible.

If you’re someone who likes to keep your photo editing process simple, then Darkroom may be an app for you. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the basic process of editing a photo using Darkroom and highlight some of the main features and tools of the app. Let’s get started.

The Interface

On opening Darkroom, you're presented with the photo library. Here, the first step is selecting the image you'd like to work with.
