The KSA Rover ‘Cube’ wagons are under development by Revolution Trains, in 4mm scale, with production due to take place next year. Built in 1995 in Finland for Rover Cars, to transport bulky but lightweight components between assembly plants, the wagons became closely associated with flows from Swindon to Long-bridge, often hauled by pairs of Railfreight Distribution Class 47s.
The wagons sported sliding roof covers and a hydraulic centre section that could be raised and lowered to maximise loading space. In the early 2000s, some of the wagons were acquired for Anglo-Scottish van traffic and, later, several were converted into timber carriers, with heavy duty stan-chions replacing the original hoods.
Revolution’s models will depict both the original van and timber carrier versions, with a variety of livery and number options available. All models will be available in twin-packs and the timber carriers will complement Revolution’s IWAs, released earlier this year, as both types have worked together on the same timber flows for several years. See the Revolution Trains website for more information.
