LONG OVERDUE first commercial 12-inch single release of one of the undoubted highlights of the abundant Arthur Russell oeuvre – the fact that Philip Glass and Gilles Peterson had previously tried and failed to get this remix to market gives you some idea of the range of its musical catchment area. The addictive agogô line of the 13-minute Danny Krivit A-side got one of the biggest cheers of the night at the euphoric Barbican tribute show heralding the recent publication of Richard King’s archival treasure trove, Travels Over Feeling. The mid-’90s Tony Morgan remix on the B-side is a bit more route one, but has a nice cameo from Allen Ginsberg.
