JULY 4, 1976: THE RAMONES HAVE JUST MADE their UK live debut at the Roundhouse in north London and blood gushes in the dressing room, post-set. “That was horrible!” spits Dee Dee Ramone, nursing his bass-strumming right hand, still wrapped in a handkerchief. He blames a hostile sound crew unaccustomed to high velocity punk rock and more at home with retro headliners the Flamin’ Groovies.
