A Lochaber sports enthusiast has donated hundreds of pounds to Nevis Radio after completing the epic Loch Ness Challenge. Kenneth MacKenzie raised £700 by swimming the length of Loch Ness – 22.5 miles – in the ‘monster-free’ environment of Mallaig Swimming Pool.
He started the challenge on February 19, gradually whittling away the miles until finally completing the marathon swim on April 30. Having collected his sponsorship money, Kenneth presented the £700 cheque to Robert MacMillan of Nevis Radio earlier this month.
‘Kenneth deserves a lot of praise for his efforts,’ said Robert. ‘To singularly raise £700 is a tremendous feat and on behalf of everyone at Nevis Radio, I wish to thank him most sincerely for his fundraising activity.’
