AN OUT-OF-WORK volunteer driver lost his licence for three months after he pleaded guilty to driving at 99 miles per hour in the 60mph limit on the Arrivain Straight, near Tyndrum. David Craig, 56, of Carmunnock Road, Clarkston, had a previously unblemished driving record of 39 years.
Craig was a volunteer driver for Lifesavers Scotland, an organisation that takes people to hospital and medical appointments, Oban Sheriff Court heard last Wednesday.
Sheriff John Herald said that as Craig was unemployed it was difficult to fine him as he would not be able to afford to pay the fine.
