The news that Highland Council has been awarded very close to £1.5 million for the creation of a new marina at Corpach is a fantastic boost to the region. It is little surprise that the awarding of such a significant sum has been widely welcomed by a range of civic leaders and those involved in the genesis of such an ambitious project.
To be named the Thomas Telford Corpach Marina, the facility will be run by the Caol Regeneration Company, a registered charity, whose chairman, Andy McKenna, was thoroughly justified in saying: ‘I am delighted with this fantastic news – we have a real project at last. This new marina, slipway and visitor centre will bring real benefits to our local area, including jobs and increased visitor spending, and opportunities for local people to take part in healthy outdoor water-based sports and activities.’ As we report this week, the marina will also incorporate toilets and showers, a public slipway, 40 car and trailer parking spaces, and a café, shop and visitor centre.
