A FISHING boat which sunk off the isle of Easdale five years ago killing its skipper Scott MacAlister can be raised off the seabed as evidence in a fatal accident inquiry, which has been adjourned for the third time until June.
The 40-year-old father-of-three, who lived on the isle of Luing, was collecting prawns alone in the Firth of Lorne on April 25 2013 when the 8.7m vessel Speedwell foundered south of Insh Island, where it remains 83m below the surface. Mr MacAlister’s body has not been found.
A fatal accident inquiry began at Oban Sheriff Court on Monday January 15, but on behalf of Mr MacAlister’s family, advocate Lewis Kennedy asked for an adjournment ‘so new lines of inquiry may be exhausted’.
