THE NATIONAL Trust for Scotland (NTS) has applied to the Highland Council for permission to open a food stall in its Glenfinnan visitor centre car park.
The unit would sell coffees, teas, juice, sandwiches and snacks to the growing number of visitors to the centre, which is located opposite Glenfinnan monument - a popular spot for tourists.
The NTS told the Lochaber Times visitor numbers are up 5.5 per cent to June this year, compared to the same period last year. An NTS spokesperson added: ‘The plan is to have it open all-year-round. The visitor centre serves food, but we need more space to serve more people. It’s a standalone unit in the car park to supplement existing facilities. We’ve had 121,186 visitors from March 1 to June 30 this year.’
