Scotland’s ‘liciest’ salmon farms to be revealed

SCOTTISH ministers have been ordered to disclose the names of Scotland’s ‘liciest’ fish farms, following an appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner.

A campaign group called Salmon and Trout Conservation Scotland (S&TC Scotland) requested ministers release the names of the ‘worst performing’ fish farms exceeding trigger levels, plus ‘increased monitoring plans and data produced, with full details of any intervention carried out, at any farms’.

Ministers responded that they had received five notifications, but withheld information identifying the aquaculture sites, arguing it would cause ‘substantial prejudice’ to the interests of the fish farmers.
