POLICE in the Highlands and Islands have made 43 recoveries of controlled drugs in the last week alone.
Police searched a car in the Fort William area early on the morning of August 17, and recovered a substantial quantity of drugs, believed to be amphetamines.
Activity has been carried out across the region, with recoveries in Shetland, Orkney, Caithness, Sutherland, Inverness and the south Highland area. Detective Chief Inspector Michael Sutherland said: ‘These recoveries give clear evidence we will not tolerate drugs in our communities. These criminals do not care how their actions affect those living in the north of Scotland as they prey on the most vulnerable in our communities.
