There are two similar editions of this full-frame compatible macro lens for Canon cameras, coming in EF mount for DSLRs and RF mount for EOS R system mirrorless cameras. Both give twice the maximum macro magnification of most macro primes, at 2.0x, thus reproducing small objects at twice life size on the image sensor. This reveals near-microscopic detail when viewing the resulting images on-screen or in print. Both are manualfocus lenses but the RF mount edition has no built-in electronics at all, so you also have to set the aperture manually via the onboard control ring. This would give a dark viewfinder image at narrow apertures on a DSLR, but it’s not a problem with live exposure preview in a mirrorless camera’s electronic viewfinder.
