In-body Image Stabilizer
How IBIS can open up new photo opportunities
When shooting video, Movie Digital IS can also be combined with IBIS and the lens’s optical IS system to give even smoother footage
The Canon EOS R3, EOS R5 and EOS R6 are each equipped with a 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) that physically moves the image sensor inside the camera in order to combat camera shake. Not only does this enable a more stable image with lenses that don’t have a built-in stabilizer, it can also enhance the performance of lenses that do have IS. It even works with EF and EF-S lenses that are attached to the camera via one of the EF-EOS R mount adapters, although the system uses co-ordinated control for a more sophisticated level of stabilization when an RF IS lens is being used.
