WIDE OPEN wallets in the West of England, where the combined authority (Weca) paid recruiters almost £1m for an interim officer to fill two top roles over less than two and a half years.
Weca handed £216,200 to Green Park Interim and Executive Ltd for the services of Richard Ennis (daily rate £1,150) for a near nine-month stint as director of investment and corporate services. It dished out another £773,200 after Ennis became interim chief executive for 20 months (daily rate £1,600). The payments were revealed after an FoI battle.
