Launching her campaign for leader of the Conservative Party in July last year, Prime Minster Theresa May said “It is hard to think of an industry of greater strategic importance to Britain than its Pharmaceutical Industry”; as a £64bn contributor to the economy, employing more than 300,000 people in highly-skilled jobs spread across the length and breadth of Britain, life sciences is a jewel in the UK’s crown and central to becoming a more innovative and productive country.
