Lest We Forget

As I write this month it strikes me how far ahead the Team and I at Raider work; yesterday I watched the BBC coverage of the Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph and as always I was very deeply moved, especially this year with the input of some of the families who have lost loved ones.

By the time you read this however, that day will have long passed, and again it strikes me that there are many of us who live with the thoughts of those no longer with us on a daily basis. After watching the coverage on TV and observing my own minute of silence I went for a walk to the War Memorial in the village where I live.

Our Memorial is in the churchyard, and thankfully is well kept and has not seen any form of vandalism. It’s a peaceful spot where you can reflect quietly. I took and laid my own poppy among the wreaths that had been laid, and thought of friends who have, and are serving their countries.

Sadly I know that not all of our Memorial nationwide are so beloved, so I’m very, very glad that we have such an organisations as the War Memorials Trust who work so hard to try and protect and maintain them. I would urge you to visit the Trust’s website and find out more. You’ll find them at www.warmemorials.org. There are plans to put into action a project where anyone can post both pictures and information about their own local Memorial, whether they are in a good state of repair, or whether they are in need of attention.

The names on those Memorials deserve to be remembered, not just for one day, not just for one year, but in perpituity. We all owe it to those brave souls to ensure their stories are preserved, and their sacrifice not in vain.

Raider

very good Reviewed 11 June 2020

Great Military Magazine

This is a great military mag, my only complaint is the amount of gear reviews, but for coverage of British and Western military, predominately European Army's this mag is the best there is. Reviewed 01 October 2018
