ASTUDY by German travel comparison site Omio has revealed that nearly 40% of UK railway stations remain inaccessible.
The study examined factors such as wheelchairaccessible access to platforms, guidance for the visually impaired, and the availability of real-time visual information on platforms in 16 European nations. The survey placed the UK in ninth place.
Wheelchair access is available at only 61% of stations in the UK, making it one of the less accessible railway nations in Europe. In comparison, the Netherlands leads in accessibility, at 97%. The Czech Republic had the worst overall accessibility.
