Toddington-based No. 2874 to be used as a training platform to preserve vital engineering knowledge.
FUNDING from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) is set to increase the resilience of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) by developing specialist engineering skills for existing and new volunteers.
The 2874 Trust, an educational charity which owns GWR 2-8-0 No. 2874, has been awarded a £151,200 grant from the NLHF to secure heritage skills for the future. The Trust’s 1918-built loco, which is under restoration from Barry scrapyard condition will serve as a training platform.
