Reclaim  |  RECLAIM 06 September 2016
One of the most wonderful things about the world of reclaim is the joy it brings to everyday life. The most ordinary activities, such as bathing or gardening, become twice as appealing when your bath is a beautiful 19th century antique copper bath, or your garden becomes the backdrop for vintage garden curios. The same can be said of home accessories – take one look at our feature on the unique figurines of ingenious artist Amy Douglas for instance, and you might be tempted to give your mantelpiece a makeover.
In this issue we’re celebrating summer by thinking about how reclaim can be
used outdoors. Whether it’s the interview with the couple in Cornwall who make stunning parasols with vintage fabric, the feature on great spots for sourcing garden salvage, or our focus on upcycled beach huts, we hope you’ll feel inspired to enjoy reclaim, antiques and vintage over the warmer months. Perhaps you’re looking for ideas of where to shop for the most unique items this summer? We have visited the fantastic Reclaimed World in Cheshire, taken a trip to Petworth – the antiques centre of the south, and highlighted several markets and new shops for you to try.
Also, there’s a brilliant interview with salvage star Drew Pritchard on church
salvage, and a chat with singer Cerys Matthews, who set up The Good Life
Experience Festival, plus an insight into the plight of a Victorian pier in desperate need of restoration. From the finest decorative items, to sourcing door furniture, to upcycling with vintage flags, we hope Reclaim magazine will inspire you to create a unique home with plenty of stories to tell.
