Untangling the State of USRowing

For the first time since 1912, the men’s team failed to win any medals at an Olympic regatta

We welcome the World is the marketing theme for this year’s World Rowing Championships. A new venue – Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota-Brandenton, Florida – will bring the world champs event back to the United States this September for the first time in more than twenty years. But what should be a cause for celebration as a great home party hosted by USRowing is currently overshadowed amidst strife within the national governing body.

Midway through January, it was announced that four board members of USRowing have stepped down. Two days later, the governing body announced that Glen Merry, its CEO since 2005 will “retire” from the organisation with effect from April 15th.
