Danish tanker operator TORM has increased its stake in the marine equipment manufacturer ME Production to around 75 per cent. In 2018 the Danish tanker operator formed a joint venture with the Frederikshavn-based equipment manufacturer, as it looked to fit its fleet with exhaust gas scrubbers ahead of changes in emission regulations enforced from 2020.
In total, TORM had over 90 of its ships fitted with the systems, with more than 50 of the units coming from ME Production, such as the one fitted to Torm Lene (pictured). The acquisition enables TORM to further enhance its fleet, as stricter environmental targets are introduced in the coming years. KA
