SHOTGUN TEST

Beretta SL2 £19,850

The launch of a completely new Beretta is always a big deal but its ‘hypergun’ is so much more — Jonny Carter falls in love

OUR VERDICT

Beretta launching a whole new platform is a big deal. Usually its updates are smaller ones, with changes to the specifications of barrels, stocks or engraving. But the SL2 boasts a completely new action and barrel design. The launch edition of this gun came out a little while ago and, with its non-conventional lines, it was fascination at first sight.

This gun was designed for the professional clay shooter. The product managers at Beretta called in some of its Pro shooters who were using DT11s to ask what they could do better. Improving this already elite-level clay gun was going to be hard, but the basic request dialled down to “improve the sight picture and give us more of what makes this gun good”.
