CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES ‘WILL BE CUT BACK TO 14 FOR NEXT YEAR’
Tom Harrison, the chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board, has unveiled controversial plans to reduce the number of County Championship games each side plays from sixteen to fourteen from next summer. The proposals are currently being discussed at board level with the eighteen first-class counties but Harrison says that a reduction in the number of Championship fixtures for 2016 is close to agreement.
