CAPTAIN Jamie Ritchie insisted he wasn’t worried about defeat despite Italy being camped in their 22 late on. “We were confident in our defence and I didn’t feel anxious at all,” he said. “When we got that scrum at the end, I felt we had won the game.”
Head coach Gregor Townsend felt Scotland should have kicked on after going 19-6 up. “Our discipline in the second half was poor. We conceded three penalties in a row to put ourselves under pressure. But fair play, to attack the space from that scrum at the end and have the skill to execute it was brilliant for the crowd.”
