GERRY CINNAMON WHERE WE’RE GOING

Trying to master barre chords? We’ve got the perfect vehicle for your journey, and you only need three basic shapes

After touring relentlessly since 2014, Scottish singer/ songwriter Gerry Cinnamon found his big break in 2020 with the release of his second album The Bonny, which hit the number one slot in the UK album charts. This month we’re looking at Where We’re Going, the fifth single from the album.

The song is perfect for building up barre chord chops. Cinnamon’s acoustic rhythm work is strong and powerful, but still sits nicely in the pocket without ever overpowering the groove. Once you’ve got the shapes down and you’re ready to play along with our backing track, make sure you listen to the bass and drums as you play. This will help you focus on the groove so you can be part of the virtual rhythm section instead of swamping it.
