T YLER HYDE: “The things we’d spoken about before making the album were the use of this repeated motif. That was created in the song ‘Basketball Shoes’, which we’ve been playing for a long time. Basically, we wanted to make something more conceptual, where every song seems like it exists in the same realm, which the first album didn’t have. There’s an attempt to make something that’s universally accessible and hopeful and uplifting. Even if at times it seems sad, there’s glimmers of hope in all of it, I think.”
