DANCING IN THE DARK
I loved seeing the review for Henry Badowski’s long lost, now reissued Life Is A Grand [May issue, Take 338]. For decades this has been one of the more rare, fascinating LPs in my collection, that absolutely no-one has ever heard of.
It took considerable digging for years to learn of his brief stints with a number of known bands. I could never find this wonderful album digitised anywhere on any site, so I took to deeper digging and found he owned a web domain, ikswodab. com (his last name backwards). There was no content on the site (this was perhaps 20 years ago), only a “contact us” link. I enquired as to whether the record had ever been or could be found online. To my great surprise, Henry himself answered my query politely, saying he couldn’t help because he did not own the rights to any of the recordings!
