I grew up near the sea; there’s comfort in that familiarity. The landscape here ended up holding a lot of poetic and conceptual weight on Shade. The album speaks to it in a literal way, but also, metaphorically, the water, the ocean; a multitude of experiences that led to it or have been met within it.
