FREDERIC RZEWSKI
Pianist and composer (1938-2021)
Frederic Rzewski studied at Harvard and Princeton prior to moving to Rome, where he co-founded free improv trio Musica Elettronica Viva in 1966. Returning to New York five years later, Rzewski began recording a series of works, including the socio-political The People United Will Never Be Defeated! and the minimal, jazz-inflected Coming Together, based on letters from a prisoner at Attica State.
