VITAMIN K INTAKE ASSOCIATED WITH MORTALITY RISK
Research published in the journal Nutrients shows a strong link between low vitamin K status and cardiovascular mortality. The study found vitamin K insufficient in almost one in three participants, and insufficiency rates were around 50% higher in both the elderly and those suffering from health conditions including cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure.
Vitamin K2 is a fatsoluble vitamin, needed for the maintenance of normal bones and blood clotting.
The MK-7 form of vitamin K2 is vital for converting the inactive matrix gla-protein into its active form, which prevents calcification of arteries and other soft tissues.
