FIGHTING FOR FEMALE SAFETY
New initiative encourages runners to make a stand against sexual harassment and demand safer publice spaces
The Safe Spaces Now campaign is part of a new partnership between UN Women UK, Strong Women, Asics London 10K and LimeLight Sports.
It recently invited people to take to the streets of London to run for safety, for change and for freedom.
The Safe Spaces Now campaign is backed by the Mayor of London and had supporters taking to the streets of Westminster in the capital during the Asics London 10K early in July.
Launched by UN Women UK in 2020, the aim of the Safe Spaces Now initiative is to improve the design of public spaces and the behaviour of the people within them. Wideranging plans are being implemented by partners in public transport, festivals, nightlife, workplaces, educational institutions and online spaces.
