What’s been your hardest race?

A 5K road race in Shrewsbury back in July. I was ready to break 17:15 but unfortunately my husband, Adam Sutton (a 28:40 10,000m runner back in his day) suffered a stroke in his sleep three days before. He encouraged me to still go for it, but I had an emotional meltdown 3K into the race. That experience taught me that although running can be incredible for your wellbeing, pushing the body when the mind isn’t right can also be the hardest thing to do.
