TALK IT OVER:RSVP… anyone?

Having the confidence to put your work out there for feedback is one hurdle, but what do you do if nobody responds? Jane Wenham-Jones suggests some solutions

I want to ask about visibility as a writer. I’ve been writing for at least twenty years, and submitted stuff but not got anywhere. I’m currently doing creative writing with the Open University. They are meant to encourage all to use forums and give critiques of each other’s work, but in practice no one uses them. I joined Scribophile but again have to wait for feedback. Other writing sites present the same problem: once you’ve posted your piece, how do you get people to read it? It’s all very well being given the advice to get your writing out there and get feedback, but what if no one wants to know? Any advice would be appreciated.
