INTERRUPTION
Get creative with what might happen to interrupt this landscape.
First, think of as many possibilites as you can of what might interrupt this peaceful scenery. They might be realistic or fantastical. Be as off-the-wall or far-fetched as you like. Let your imagination go where it will and write down what you come up with.
Then, go through your notes, and pick one of the scenarios. Write a before-and-after piece about the landscape and the interruption that you’ve chosen to write about.

MOVING IN
Starting from a basic premise, explore developing an idea. Begin with the idea of someone, or a couple, moving into a new house or flat. Who are your characters? What’s their relationship? Does anyone else live in the house or flat? How might your storyline develop? Think about the dynamics between the characters you’re creating, and how you’ll create drama from your basic setup. What will happen in your story? Consider how you could escalate a situation through the use of faultines and points of tension. Write for 20 minutes.
