SOFT WARE: NUKE
HOW DO I USE CRYPTOMATTE PASSES IN NUKE?

It is common to accidentally forget to make the one matte that is needed when prepping a 3D scene for a compositing application. For those artists unfamiliar with compositing, a matte is a black and white image which shows a cut-out of the render, which can be used by compositing software to isolate elements. For years, setting up bespoke mattes was a laborious process for a 3D artist. Every item that required a matte needed its own assignment, which would either add size to a render file or, if rendering in sequences, add another set of files, filling up the hard drive.
