UK START-UP Global Airlines has seemingly pushed back the launch of services to 2025 following the arrival of its first Airbus A380, 9H-GLOBL (c/n 120) at Glasgow/Prestwick at the end of April. In a statement, the airline said that the aircraft is in the process of having its livery applied and plans for interior refurbishment are “progressing”. It continued: “The next stage of maintenance work is due to commence in the coming weeks that will take the airline a step closer towards launching passenger flights next year.” Global Airlines had initially planned on launching charter flights this year, with scheduled services between London and various destinations in the US, including New York and Los Angeles, to follow.
The news comes after the airline announced a new strategic partnership with tech-focused global law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in a bid to raise capital to support its launch. Global’s CEO and founder, James Asquith, said: “We have continuously set out to work with the best in class in their sectors, and that’s exactly what we’ve done with Orrick.
“Their strategic advice, input and networks will be invaluable to us as we build a business that operates to the highest possible standards. Since our flight across the Atlantic, appetite from large funds and institutional investors has never been higher, and Orrick is well placed to support us as we build for the future.”
