Possible super jumbo return
THE AIRBUS A380 could make a dramatic, albeit temporary, return to the Etihad Airways fleet. Speaking to Business Insider, Tony Douglas, Group CEO of Etihad Aviation Group, stated that, while the double-decker type is “not in the plan at the moment”, the A380 has not been ruled out: “If the economics of it work, they’re back in”. However, such a move would only be a “stopgap” while the airline waits to accept more fuel-efficient, twin-engined A350s and Boeing 787s – it currently fields five and 39, respectively, of each.
