CAIRO-BASED ALMASRIA Universal Airlines has doubled its Airbus A321 fleet following the delivery of two aircraft. The first, A321-231, SU-TCP (c/n 1004), arrived on February 20 and is a 26-year-old former Aero Lloyd example. The second, A321211, SU-TCN (c/n 1629), was handed over two days later and is a 23-yearold ex-LTU airframe. The former is powered by the IAE V2500 – the same engine used on AlMasria’s existing Airbus fleet – while the latter is fitted with CFM International CFM56s. SU-TCP started life in Germany with Aero Lloyd in April 1999. Between 2004 and 2013, the aircraft was used by both Onur Air and Saudi Arabian Airlines. Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly acquired it in March 2014 and put it to use with the Belgian Air Force until January 2021. Hi Fly subsequently operated it on behalf of Jet2 for the 2022 and 2023 summer seasons before withdrawing it from use in October 2024. SU-TCN was delivered to LTU in
December 2001 and flew with the German carrier until February 2008, when it was transferred to Air Berlin. Austrian airline Niki used the jet for one year beginning in February 2017, before Germania acquired it, withdrawing it from use a year later. In addition to four A321-200s, AlMasria’s fleet also comprises two A320-200s and a pair of Boeing 737400s. The carrier currently flies from Egypt to destinations in Russia, Italy, Kuwait and Djibouti.
